U.S. actors, artists urge Barack Obama to let René González return home

Danny Glover and Susan Sarandon are among several prominent U.S. artists who have petitioned president Barack Obama to allow convicted Cuban René González, 50, to return home. González was released from prison on October 7, after serving 13 years for spying on behalf of the Castor regime. Although he is no longer in custody, González must spend another 36 months in post-release supervision in the United States. A federal judge refused to modify that requirement on September 16, but an attorney for Gonzalez says that he will make the request again.

Joining Glover and Sarandon are Peter Seeger, Jackson Browne, Edward Asner, Peter Coyote and Mike Farrell, as well as several lesser known artists.
