Bill Richardson on his way to Havana -- release of Alan Gross may be at hand

Bill Richardson, former New Mexico Governor and United Nations Ambassador (during the Clinton administration) has been invited to Havana by the Cuban government. I received this bulletin a few minutes ago from Peter J. Kahn, Gross' U.S. attorney in Washington:
“We are pleased that the Cuban government invited Governor Richardson to Havana. We welcome any and all dialogue that ultimately will result in Alan’s release. We are grateful to Governor Richardson for his continued efforts. We hope that the Governor and Cuban authorities are able to find common ground that will allow us to be reunited as a family before the Jewish High Holy Days.”
The big question now is whether Richardson will return with Gross -- and of course, what the U.S. will have to give up in return, if anything. The tit for tat might be an agreement to remove Cuba from its State Sponsored Terrorism list, long a diplomatic sore point between two nations still involved in a 50 year old Cold War.
